樸 (PU)| AR Animation

樸(PU), the "uncarved block", represents the "original nature...prior to the imprint of culture" of an individual in Taoism.

This artwork uses AR (Augmented Reality) technique as an unnatural method to spy on the invisible Five elements of the Tao.

Outline

Everything in the world has its way, and humans can not intervene. We want to use AR technique as an unnatural method to perceive Tao's invisible five elements. Wuxing is one of the Taoist's theories, usually translated as Five Phases: 木 (Wood) 火 (Fire) 土 (Earth) 金(Metal) 水 (Water). Wuxing is a fivefold conceptual scheme that many traditional Chinese fields used to explain a wide array of the formation and mutual relations of all things in the world. Each phase represents different energies in Wuxing theory.

In Taoist philosophy, the Tao evolves into Yin and Yang, and the evolution of Yin and Yang includes five different forms of the movement known as the Five Phases. We design the five symbols in conjunction with trigrams.
